About

Born in the heart of Miami and growing up in the fast-paced lifestyle of the eclectic and multi dimensional city was the lifestyle that Samantha (SamJam) Bowen was used to. Though always dedicated to her academics, Bowen would always find herself humming along to the tunes she had only just heard a few minutes ago. At the age of 8, Samantha Blake was chosen to become a part of the Miami Children’s Choir (MCC). From then on, it was unimaginable that Sam would do anything else with her spare time. Though still working hard in her academics, she continued on with MCC for six years, only leaving the children's choir to prepare for her audition into the New World School of the Arts in Downtown Miami. After being accepted as a vocal major, she studied four more years of applied music practice with different professors in a college like experience that blended her academic lifestyle with her arts. Samantha Bowen fell in love with music and the passion that she felt with it in a way that she never knew was imaginable. This lead to Samantha practicing daily and when winning several awards for her vocal accomplishments, including ‘Most Outstanding Vocalist of NWSA for 2008'. Upon the final year of Bowen’s high school career at NWSA she was accepted into Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Though she had always planned to pursue a career in academics, she quickly realized that her life would follow a different path.

During Samantha Bowen’s four undergraduate years at Carnegie Mellon, she studied to receive a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the Tepper School of Business at CMU. On the side, she found a new passion in the recording arts and very quickly became skilled in the engineering front for music. Working alongside many musicians Samantha Bowen gained the skills of live and studio recording and production, to even become an employee for the Carnegie Mellon School of Music at the College of Fine Arts as a recording engineer. SamJam had taught herself to play some basic guitar back in high school and from them on began composing for her and other artists. This skill came in handy when working in the studio with artists when asked to write different parts for their tracks, and of course, she would do so gladly, never gloating and always humbled by the praise she received as an artist and engineer. By the end of her years, she would also receive a minor in Music Technology. It was evident that a music career was inescapable.

Upon finishing her academic career for the time being, Samantha Bowen returned to Miami to be alongside her family and pursue a career in the music field she has always had a passion for. Bowen continued to write and produce music herself while performing with locals for her own personal enjoyment while pursuing her professional music career. It was then that Bowen decided to make her move and split her time between New York City and Philadelphia to continue recording and working on her musical solo career. She’s now worked alongside many famous and world known artists including major Pittsburgh rapper Frzy, Ajay Rock and many more. Enjoy reading her journey on her blog.
